We have innovative answers to the shortage of skilled workers

Sebastian Borchers and Ralf Gerhold on the launch of ContiMotion, how they are tackling the shortage of skilled workers and building bridges to new jobs

ContiMotion is a new player in the field of recruitment – what do you bring to the table to stand up to the competition?

Borchers: Thanks to our close links with Continental and other companies, we have a large network of contacts with highly trained specialists, which we use specifically to the advantage of our customers. By using employee leasing as an instrument for an easy transition, we give them the opportunity to bring qualified specialists into their company - without the risks associated with permanent employment. This is also in the interest of the employees: they can gain initial experience in new companies and industries in their region before they decide to commit themselves to a new employer on a permanent basis. With the Continental Institute for Technology and Transformation, we also have an experienced training provider at our side that has already helped over 10,000 participants acquire important skills for the future. Our agile team also brings extensive HR know-how for different requirements – so we can be quite confident.

How is your team positioning itself to meet these requirements?

Gerhold: We place the highest value on a customer-orientated, Germany-wide focus. Our customers include companies with personnel requirements – these can be external partners, but also Continental locations – as well as candidates who are interested in exciting temporary assignments. As an experienced team, we have the necessary expertise to bring both sides together in the best possible way. In doing so, we also draw on Continental's extensive network, which is fuelled by initiatives such as the “Allianz der Chancen”, for example. Our high quality standards as well as our presence with locations in Hanover and Frankfurt enable us to provide excellent coverage and support. This is because the majority of our clients are looking for an employer close to where they live.

Many companies are under great pressure in the transformation process – how can your offering support them?

Borchers: We must not forget: The pressure to transform in the face of social and economic change is already enormous and is set to increase even further. The rapid technological disruption is not only changing individual jobs, but the structures of entire industries. With our offering, we help to secure skills and actively counteract the shortage of skilled workers in Germany: We offer employees undergoing transformation the opportunity to change both internally and externally – without risk. At the same time, we support companies in bridging short-term staff shortages and reacting flexibly to unexpected projects. Incidentally, we did not develop this model on our own, but in close cooperation with trade unions and employee representatives. Overall, our approach creates an innovative and agile form of employment. By specifically placing people from job to job and providing them with targeted training for new tasks, we are also helping to tackle the shortage of skilled labour in Germany.

Thank you very much for the interview!
